This is a question that everybody asks themselves at least once in their life time. The answer is very simple. One wouldn’t be asking this question at all if he/she was on the right path. For instance, nobody questions themselves if they are on the right path when on their way to a beautiful vacation to Paris. But there are other questions that need to be answered.

Are you easing your way through or painfully dragging your feet? How often do you feel tired and feel like taking a break? How far do you intend to go on the path?

If the answers to these questions are positive, then it means you’re probably on the right path. But if they are negative and you feel you’re hurdling your way through, it means you should definitely consider changing paths.

Most people don’t get this doubt when they’re standing in front of the cross roads and are about to choose one, but when they’re already half way across the wrong path. It’s never too late to turn back but it’s definitely wrong to keep even one more step forward after you realize it's a wrong path for you.

There are some live examples which might come as a shock who have switched careers between extremities and have proven it is okay to do so. Walt Disney, who will always remain immortal through his creative work, was a news paper editor.Ellen DeGeneres, who is considered as Showtime’s funniest person in America, initially started of with a not so funny job as a paralegal. Chethan Bhagath, the famous Indian writer is actually an Engineer from IIT.

All these people turned out to be successful because they smartly recognized what would actually make them a success and diverted the career torch in that direction. It is not just enough to work hard, it is also important to focus on the direction that’s right for you. If the efforts are put for a wrong cause, it automatically turns out to be unproductive. It is always better to start over than carry forward the wrong decision.

I think to be successful, you should have a job that you’d kill for, and not the one that’d make you kill yourself.

Mahatma Gandhi has rightly said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” It is important to make the change within ourselves to make ourselves better people in whatever we’re best at.
