An Unforgettable Evening at the Baseball Game

I once happened to visit my uncle in Detroit during my semester vacation. He is my mother’s brother who had moved to the US with his wife five years ago. It was when he surprised me with baseball tickets. I had a very little idea about the game having come from a country that’s a fan of cricket, but thought would be a different experience.
As we drove to the game, I realized how long it had been since I had spent time with my uncle. I was very close to him when I was little. Growing up without any siblings, I used to always turn to him when I felt like spending time with a family member who wasn’t dominating. I remember most weekends of my childhood going to parks, exhibitions and fairs with him. He was the one who taught me to ride my first bike, made me try para-sailing and taught me a lot of adventurous things and made me a dare-devil.
After a drive for about forty-five minutes, we reached the stadium in Detroit downtown. It was a very huge place and was filled with a lot of people. I freaked out a little looking at the over-whelming crowd. It was my fourth day in the city, well the country, so it was the first time I saw so many Americans at one place.
Miami and Detroit were the teams playing against each other that day and my uncle and I were supporting the tigers. I didn’t want to sit at one place and wanted to explore the entire stadium, so I insisted we keep roaming around and I got to click many pictures with my uncle’s iPhone from different views.
At first, it was a little difficult to follow the game, but my uncle explained it to me and I slowly started to get it, in fact enjoy it. I had forgotten how much fun my uncle and I used to have. We ate candies, drank sodas, chit-chatted, cheered for our team and laughed a lot.
First time our team player hit a home-run, everyone around me started jumping and I couldn’t hold the excitement in myself. I even exchanged smiles with so many people that it didn’t make me feel like a stranger anymore. It was such a fun crowd that not even for a moment could I drop my enthusiasm. Even though there were so many people around me, there wasn’t a single person to judge me even if I wanted to act like a total idiot.
Time passed so quickly, that I didn’t even realize. Our team won the game and I felt like I won something too, not sure what exactly it was but made me feel happy. I felt so free and confident that there was no fear left in me when I walked out. It was a great experience. My uncle didn’t just gift me baseball tickets, but a beautiful memory that I’ll never forget.
